BERLIN SHOW 2005

Saturday April 30th 2005 we visited the Berlin gun Show.

It was nice to have it back because the show was suspended since 2000 and before that year it was held always in different places.
The organizer  EXPO MANAGEMENT choose the MESSE BERLIN as the new site. Berlin Messe is downtown Berlin with 26 buildings and over 160.000 square meters (39,5 acres) of total covered area.

The show was at the second floor of building 11 which was occupied about half of its surface.

About 50 exibitors coming from all over Germany and also a Belgian exibitor.
We didn’t find any Italian visitor, may be for the distance and because the Stuttgart Show was held just one month before.
We consider the Berlin Show potentially interesting expecially if it will be held regularly, in the same place and properly advertised.
Even if Stuttgart show was held only one month before and most of the exibitors were the same, nonetheless we found some interesting items such as the following two of which you can see some pictures:

CZECK MOSIN NAGANT RIFLE VZ52 CAL.7,62 NAG.

The rifle is described in the book by Karl Heinz Wrobel DREI LINIEN Vol.1 pagg.249-251.

The action is a standard Mosin Nagant with bent lever.
The optic is the PU type attached on the left side of the receiver.
  There is a muzzle brake.
  Pin front sight with tunnel
The stock has a wood cheek pad and an enlarged insert below the barrel.

DREYSE SIDE BY SIDE (TESCHNER – COLLATH SYSTEM) CAL.16

Manufactured around 1870-1880.

Excellent conditions, original blueing, silver inlets in the rear side of the barrels.
The opening system is a TESCHNER – COLLATH: the underbarrel lever moves a cam which slides the barrels forward.
Besides the excellent conditions is remarkable the possibility to shoot also Brenneke type ammos in the right barrel.
The right chamber can be disassembled and changed with a second one with a short rifled barrel portion. The spare rifled chamber is contained in the forestock.

Some logistic infos for anyone interested to visit the show in the future:

TEGEL international Airport is in the town and it is connected with most European Town by AIR BERLIN.
From TEGEL airport you can easily reach the show in less than 20 minutes and for a 2 € fare: catch bus X9 and then the anticlockwise Metro for two stops (EXIT MESSE NORD).
We had a nice dinner at SONY CENTER (near Potsdamer Platz), a modern steel and glass structure including a movie teather and a tipical German Beer Shop (LINDEBRÄU).
You can eat inside, in the square or in the terrace.
Obviously, if you want to visit the town there are plenty of attractions and interesting places: CHECKPOINT CHARLIE and the WALL MUSEUM, lot of places relate with II World War, with the Cold War and the Russian occupation, the BRANDEBURG DOOR, the DEUTSCHER BUNDESTAG, many parks and museums.
